LA LUZ WATCHING CARTOONS

La Luz is a dreamy-desert-sounding band from L.A made up of guitarist and songwriter Shana Cleveland, bassist Lena Simon, and keyboardist Alice Sandahl. Following on from La Luz’s previously launched single 'In the Country,' the group is sharing a new single 'Watching Cartoons' with a mixed media video directed by Nathan Castiel, alongside the announce of their self-titled fourth album. Produced by the American composer and Jazz Is Dead label boss Adrian Younge (The American Negro / Black Dynamite / Ghostface Killah), the new single sees a funk-injected bass line play alongside a rickety, aged piano, accompanied by merry guitar strums. The group vocals are woozy and stretched out, layered in succulent harmony. There's a definite hint of the 60s with sounds like 'ooh' and 'ba ba ba', but also a distinct freshness to their sound. Adrian Younge said, 'We both create music with the same attitude, and that’s what I love about them', 'They are never afraid to be risky and their style is captivating. I don’t work with many bands, but I love taking chances on people that share the same vision'. La Luz tour Europe and the UK in Spring 2022 (see dates here). -Ellie Rose-Davies
